There are certain distinctions
between the grading of students (Kup-Grade)
and masters (Dan-Grade). Kup-grade techniques
are arranged into three categories: kicks and
punches, joint locks and throws. To loosen a
grip to the wrist, for example, there are 6
techniques in each category, i.e. 6 punches,
6 joint locks and 6 throws which makes a total
of 18 techniques. The extensive curriculum therefore
encompasses about 400 techniques and self-defence
situations from the beginner to the master level
(1st Dan). The objective is to prepare the student
for as many potential self-defence situations
as possible. With increasing experience, the
student is able to freely combine and modify
his repertoire of techniques at his own discretion
in order to face any situation successfully.
The following list contains the basis attacks
and respective defences that are taught at each
level.
